Community Breastfeeding Center
MilkWorks O
Experts say that breast milk is the best food for babies, especially during their first year of life. It doesn’t only help them grow healthy and strong, but it also protects them from infections and illnesses. This is one of the reasons why MilkWorks O exists. They want to make sure that every mother has access to breastfeeding support. Their goal is to provide mothers with the care they need to meet their personal feeding goals.
MilkWorks O is a nonprofit community breastfeeding center designed to provide breastfeeding assistance to Omaha families. It was founded by a group of seven women, including a pediatrician, four nurses, a childbirth educator, and a doula in 2001. Its first branch is located in the Trade Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 2015, the center expanded and opened a location at Rockbrook Village in Omaha, NE. To add, MilkWorks O conducts outreach programs in several smaller communities in the state.
MilkWork O’s services include clinical consultations with lactation consultants, breastfeeding supplies and baby comfort products, and free drop-in weight checks and Breastfeeding Information Center. They also provide group support and rental pumps and scales. We now offer both in person and virtual services.
